A technical system for functional restoration and quality improvement of typical degraded forests in Central Yunnan Plateau has been established

Aiming at the typical degraded forest tree species problem in central Yunnan plateau such as a mono species, simple structure, low productivity, the research team led by professor Li Gui-xiang from YAFG carried out series of research and exploration with focus on vegetation restoration and degradation of forest function recovery, the restoration and reconstruction technology of severely degraded land, the structure adjustment of natural secondary forest and the reconstruction technology of artificial forest, the technology of mountain closure and forest cultivation in central Yunnan, the vegetation restoration and reconstruction model in central Yunnan, and the simulation technology and model of spatial management and dynamic planning of Yunnan pine (Pinus yunnannesis) forest were put forward, formed a typical degraded forest in Yunnan plateau function recovery and quality improvement technology system, which has been applied in the natural forest protection project, key regional ecological conservation and restoration project, slope land conversion program and covered total area of 3.0161 million mu (about 201,073ha). It is not only provides scientific and technological support for "Natural Forest Protection Project", "Ecological Protection and Restoration in Key Regions" but also provides scientific basis for improving the quality of ecological environment construction in Yunnan, regional vegetation restoration and construction projects as well as constructing ecological safety barrier in Southwest China.
